Here are some photos from a shadowbox workshop at the Foundry.
On October 29, 2021, I went to a Shadowbox Workshop hosted at the Foundry with a few other UTeach makers. This was originally Halloween themed, and there were already a couple of Halloween themed designs 3-D printed for us to use. We first started with assembling the frame of the shadow box using wood glue and some screws. Then, we 3-D printed our designs and attached it to the frame using hot glue. Lastly, the background was then assembled (mainly out of cardboard cutouts and thick cardstock) and stapled to the back of the frame.
When I was designing my shadowbox, I wanted to make it autumn themed rather than Halloween themed because I thought it would look better used as home decor. So when it came to 3-D printing a design, I decided to do a brown bench. I also wanted to make it feel like there were leaves falling down, so I decorated my cardboard cutout with an autumn tree. I also added some song lyrics to fit my autumn theme. These song lyrics were cut using the vinyl cutter in the workroom.
I enjoyed going to the Foundry and getting refamiliarized with the tools there. I got certified in 3-D printing before covid, and this workshop was a good refresher on how to 3-D print. This workshop also made me more confident in certain tools used for woodworking. After this workshop, I would start to go to the Foundry more often to work on my creative projects.
