These photos are taken from a Sewing and Embroidery Workshop hosted at the Foundry.

The Foundry hosted a sewing and embroidery workshop on December 1-2, 2022, to help groups who needed to use the embroidery machines to work on their coat of arms. This was co-led by Julio and I as we were both certified to teach sewing and embroidery. To plan for this workshop, we both came up with available dates for people to sign up for, and we both made a registration sheet for teams to sign up.

We both showed the groups how to use the sewing machines and how to thread the needle. Then we showed them how to use the embroidery machine and how to set up a piece of fabric into the hoop. Then we also showed them how to use the embroidery software available on the laptops at the Foundry.

This workshop ended up being a success as we had multiple groups come in and learn how to use the sewing and embroidery machines. They even went to the Foundry later to use the sewing and embroidery machines for their coat of arms. One of the limitations that we had encountered was that the software for the embroidery machine was very old, so it took the groups longer than expected for them to finish their coat of arms. I definitely realized that when it came to planning workshops, I needed to provide more of a structure for people to come in and help people instead of just getting everyone in all at once. I also need to work out some nooks and crannies from the embroidery software and machines to improve my troubleshooting skills.
