These are some photos that I took at a Cranky Contraptions Workshop.
The Cranky Contraptions Workshop took place on November 13, 2021 at the ACE family makerspace. In this workshop, we used several tools on cardboard and wooden materials to create the parts of our Cranky Contraption. The frame of our design was already precut, so we just had to assemble it. There were also several other bits and bobs that were precut, and the leftover pieces from those parts were saved for other uses. However, to create the parts of our contraption, we would use straws and these leftover pieces from our other parts to create the hand crank. After we assembled our hand crank and attached it to the frame, we would attach a tiny drawing at the top to make it move around.
This workshop really made me rethink how we can use scraps and leftover materials from other projects instead of letting it go to waste. And when it came to working with the materials that we have, we can learn techniques about how it behaves so that we can learn how to work with it for our project. Even though this seemed to me like a intricate design initially, there are several little parts that after being assembled, made the design intricate.
